Muftah is putting together a Special Collection of articles celebrating the popular cultures of Afghanistan and Pakistan. We are seeking well-written, interesting submissions of 1500 to 2000 words exploring the modern cultural milieu of both nations.
This Special Collection will broaden the popular discourse around Afghanistan and Pakistan by focusing on the often ignored creative capacity of their citizens. Like the rest of the world, the peoples of Afghanistan and Pakistan have a long history of expressing their imagination, hopes, and aspirations, through the arts, music, dance, fashion, theatre, film, television, radio, and poetry. Afghan and Pakistani artists, such as the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, have also been pioneers in fusing local traditions with global cultural trends. This Special Collection will demonstrate and draw attention to the depth and richness of these neglected aspects of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Submissions are due June 11, 2014. Please email articles to firstname.lastname@example.org. For additional information about Muftah, please read Our Mission page here.
