Protection of Women in Conflict?
Although UN Resolution 1325 calls for protecting women from exploitation and politically related violence during times of conflict, the resolution has not been applied to Palestinian women. Many pregnant Palestinian women have, for instance, been forced to give birth in prisons. Between the years 2005 and 2008, around 500 Palestinian women were arrested by Israeli occupation forces. Of these, 120 women were long term prisoners, and 19 were mothers, two of whom gave birth while imprisoned.
