Transparency International released a report this week highlighting waste and corruption in the security sectors of 19 governments in the Middle East and North Africa. Every country surveyed was assessed to have a high risk of sector-specific corruption, with Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Syria, and Yemen seen as particularly “critical.” In these countries, Transparency found there to be almost no accountability in the defense and security establishments of each state.

In contrast, Israel, Kuwait, Lebanon, and the UAE scored highest. Read a full copy of the report here.
