Darci Sprengel is an adjunct faculty member in The Department of the Arts at The American University in Cairo and a PhD Candidate in ethnomusicology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her dissertation, titled “DIY Music and Affective Citizenship in Post-Mubarak Egypt,” examines Egyptian DIY music scenes in relation to public feeling and to the production of alternative models of politics. She was formerly a Research Associate at the American Research Center in Egypt and previously served as the Reviews Editor for Ethnomusicology Review.
