Laya Hess-Skinner

In 2008-2009, Laya Hess-Skinner studied and worked in Cairo, Egypt. She has traveled extensively in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and has conducted research in Egypt, Lebanon, China, Japan, and Thailand. She is interested in social entrepreneurship, poverty alleviation, and economic development in post-conflict states. Currently, Laya is an Article Editor for the Cornell Policy Review, and is also a volunteer translator for an Ashoka Arab World Fellow. Laya holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Religion with a concentration in Middle East Studies from St. Olaf College and is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Administration degree from Cornell University.
