Leila Piran holds a Ph.D. in World Politics with a focus on the Middle East from the Catholic University of America. She teaches courses in international affairs and political science at George Washington University. Prior to this, Leila served as a research fellow on Turkey at the Rethink Institute. In her research and writing, Leila focuses on Iran and Turkey. In 2013, Palgrave Macmillian published her book titled, Institutional Change in Turkey: The Impact of EU Reforms on Human Rights and Policing. Leila has published articles about Iran’s domestic and foreign policies in the Lobelog and Al Monitor.
