Richard McNeil-Willson is a PhD researcher and teacher at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, University of Exeter, England, specializing in contemporary Islamist politics in Western Europe. His research is concerned with patterns of interaction between Islamic social movements and European governments, particularly the use of violence as a political tactic. Richard holds Masters degrees from the universities of Durham, Edinburgh, and Exeter and is currently based between Western Europe and the Middle East.
