Sandra Fernandez, a current Boren Fellow in Amman, Jordan, is conducting research with the International Oranization for Migration (IOM) on alternatives to irregular migration and intensively studying Arabic. She worked as Country Director for REBUILD Globally in Port-au-Prince, Haiti –a nonprofit organization that provides dignified living-wage employment to empower the locals and counter a humanitarian aid culture of handouts. Sandra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology with minor in Art History from New York University and is currently a dual master’s candidate in Sustainable International Development & Coexistence and Conflict at the Heller School in Brandeis University.
