Stefano M. Torelli @mideastorels

Stefano M. Torelli is a Research Fellow at the Italian Institute for International Political Studies, based in Milan, Italy. He holds a Ph.D. in the History of International Relations and his research is focused on Middle Eastern and North African politics, with emphasis on Tunisia. In particular, he studies the development of Islamist movements in the area, both theoretically and strategically. Stefano is Adjunct Professor of History and Institutions of the Middle East at the University of Milan (IULM) and he has published several articles on Tunisian transition and Tunisian Islamist groups for a range of publications including Middle East Policy, Insight Turkey, The Jamestown Foundation’s Terrorism Monitor, Jadaliyya, Nawaat, and other journals. He has addressed the Italian Parliament with reports on the issue of radicalization in North Africa and Tunisia and he has published several policy articles and chapters on these themes. In Italian, he is the author of a monograph on Tunisian political, social, and economic dynamics as well as a columnist for the weekly magazine of the main national newspaper Il Corriere della Sera. Stefano has lived in Naples, Tunis, Damascus, Paris, and Florence and he speaks Italian, English, some Arabic, and French. His webpage is https://ispionline.academia.edu/StefanoMTorelli.
