Yasmin El-Rifae has studied and worked in Cairo for several years. She has worked on projects in the fields of development and journalism covering Egypt and several other countries in the Middle East and North Africa, including Syria and Iraq. In her academic and professional endeavors, Yasmin has focused on issues of social inequality, Islamist politics, Egypt’s economic policies, and the effects of long-standing emergency laws on the Egyptian justice system, among other domestic and regional topics. Yasmin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Modern History from the American University in Cairo.
