Muftah and Eurasian Dialogue will be publishing a collection of articles that will examine the relationship between the Middle East and Central Asia (defined as the post-Soviet republics of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgzystan). These articles will appear in a Special Collection on Muftah and as part of a special issue of Perspectives on Central Asia, a quarterly bulletin published by Eurasian Dialogue sometime in March/April 2016.
We are seeking well-written, thought-provoking submissions of 1000 to 2500 words that explore various topics that relate to both regions. These may include, but are not limited to:
- religious communities and identity
- international relations
- economic systems and development
- political ideology and revolution
- art and culture
- historical legacies of empire and independence
Authors may wish to compare dynamics across each region, compare individual countries between the two regions, or examine relations between individual states. We are particularly interested in articles that reflect local understandings of these subjects. Articles should be well-argued and use citations (preferably hyperlinks rather than footnotes), and should be suitable for a general, rather than academic, audience.
Submissions are due on January 31, 2016. Please email article submissions to [email protected] [email protected] For more information about Muftah, see Our Mission page. For more information about Eurasian Dialogue, see About Us.
