Looks to me like the prophet was a political genius. Kinda makes you wonder what the current crop of imams are thinking.

Comment on Modern-Day Lessons from Prophet Muhammad’s Religious Pluralism by Waqas https://muftah.org/prophet-muhammad-religious-pluralism/#comment-143654 Fri, 20 Oct 2017 20:10:00 +0000 https://muftah.org/?p=51781#comment-143654 Great article Craig. I am a Muslim married to a Christian, and I never regretted marrying her since we both go for common terms in our religion rather than minor differences. These Covenants are what define the relationship of Muslims with Christians, and I suggest Muslims should read and spread the word around the world so they can know what we are about and how we are not against them.

Comment on Egypt’s Oppressive Moral Policing of Its LGBTQ Citizens by Sherif Abbassy https://muftah.org/egyptian-states-oppressive-moral-policing-lgbtq-citizens/#comment-143650 Sun, 08 Oct 2017 10:30:00 +0000 https://muftah.org/?p=51605#comment-143650 Sodom and Gomorrah were cities mentioned in the Book of Genesis and throughout the Hebrew
Bible, the New Testament and in the deuterocanonical books, as well as in the Quran and the hadith. According to the Torah, the kingdoms of Sodom and Gomorrah were allied with the cities of Admah, Zeboim and Bela. These five cities, also known as the “cities of the plain”, (from Genesis in the
Authorized Version) were situated on the Jordan River plain in the southern region of the land of Canaan. The plain, which corresponds to the area just north of the modern-day Dead Sea,[5] was compared to the garden of Eden[Gen.13:10] as being well-watered and green, suitable for grazing livestock. Divine judgment by God was then passed upon Sodom and Gomorrah and two neighboring cities, which were completely consumed by fire and brimstone. In Abrahamic religions, Sodom and Gomorrah have become synonymous with impenitent sin, and their fall with a proverbial manifestation of divine retribution.
[Jude 1:7] Sodom and Gomorrah have been used as metaphors for vice and homosexuality viewed as a deviation. The story has therefore given rise to words in several languages. These include the English word sodomy, used in sodomy laws to describe sexual “crimes against nature”, namely anal or oral sex (particularly homosexual). Some Islamic societies incorporate punishments associated with Sodom and Gomorrah into sharia.

It tacitly implies that people have no right to define a term except that anyone can merely redefine that term to their whim and claim legitimacy. It would be like a White Female claiming to be an African-American male.

Comment on Why Are Muslims Scapegoating Salafism for ISIS’s Crimes? by John Bestevaar https://muftah.org/muslims-scapegoating-salafism-isiss-crimes/#comment-143631 Sun, 06 Aug 2017 00:52:00 +0000 https://muftah.org/?p=50781#comment-143631 My investigations lead me to hypothesize that in the field of human language any large or small set of words can be interpreted to mean whatever you wish them to mean. After that one only has to put upon them a attractive and persuasive face. Your audience will then do whatever you ask of them.
